Places to Visit

Los Cabos, Baja California Sur. Mexico

Cabo San Lucas ArchCabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo are the cities of the tourist area of Los Cabos. They are linked by a scenic 20 mile seaside highway called the tourist corridor. It is approximately 93 miles from Cabo San Lucas to Los Cabos via Todos Santos and 113 miles from San Jose del Cabos to La Paz via East Cape.

Among the many attractions in Los Cabos, a few really stand out. Sport fishing is very popular because of the abundance of species such as the marlin (black, blue and striped), sail fish, sword fish, mahi mahi and yellowtail. Scuba diving is another great activity where you can explore the famous sand falls, black coral reefs and marine fauna that inhabit the surrounding waters. Los Cabos is also famous for its beaches such as Playa del Amor, Playa Medano and Playa Hacienda in Cabo San Lucas and the long beach of Costa Azul in San Jose del Cabo. You can enjoy any water sport imaginable including swimming, snorkeling, sailing and surfing.

Cabo Pulmo with its coral reef, unique to this latitude; Los Frailes Beach; the Sierra de la Laguna Biosphere Reserve; the town of Miraflores with its leather handicrafts; Santiago with its zoo and museum of giant fossils; the municipal palace; the art garden; the blown glass factory; and the old lighthouse monument built in 1890 on The Cerro del Vigia. You will also find countless boutiques, art galleries and jewelry stores all along the colorful streets.

Golf, Scuba Diving, Snorkeling, Kayaking, Surf

Many things to do in Los Cabos you can find. Take a look at these.

Golf: Dozens of cream-colored stretches pad the golden shores of this peninsula like soft ramps easing you into Tropic of Cancer waters. Los Cabos’ beautiful beaches come in many shapes, sizes and personalities, from the private horseshoe nestled away beneath the palm shade to the wide-open expanses bustling with fun, drinks, tourists, and plenty of activities under the sun.

Scuba Diving and Snorkeling: Diving enthusiasts continue to be fascinated by the mysterious cascades of sand that pour endlessly into the bottom of the sea, the beautiful black coral gardens and the rich marine fauna of the region.

Fishing and Boating: Los Cabos is considered the world capital of marlin fishing. This sport can be practiced all year round. Boats of different sizes are available to take you out to sea to places like El Chileno and Olamilla. These boats can be rented at several different places in the area. These two spots are particularly rich in marine fauna and offer great fishing possibilities.

Spas: In recent years, Americans and Canadians have increasingly turned to spas for relaxation and rejuvenation, with exotic or traditional treatments becoming ever more popular. Modern-day Mexican spas have fused indigenous practices and treatments with the world’s most innovative technologies to offer spa experiences few places in the world can match.

Ecotourism: In winter, the western beaches of Cabo San Lucas are ideal for whale-watching. The California Gray whale seems to get everyone most excited. This magnificent creature spends summers in the waters off of Alaska, and then heads 6,000 miles south to the warmer lagoons of Baja in January, February and March.

Kayaking: Kayaking is one of the best ways to enjoy the natural coastline of our unique Sea of Cortez. It is not necessary to be an expert kayaker because the waters that surround Los Cabos are very calm. There are special sites for swimming and snorkeling that can only be accessed by kayak.

Night Life: Los Cabos boasts a variety of nightlife, particularly in La Concepción, north of the Marina. Popular venues include Squid Roe, a dance club, and Kokomo’s, a contemporary music bar on the Boulevard Marina.

Sailing: Cabo San Lucas Marina has 288 berths for sailing enthusiasts. Sailboat trips are available to the famous natural stone arch separating the Gulf of California or Sea of Cortés from the Pacific Ocean.

Water Sports: Los Cabos’ main attraction is its natural surroundings, resulting from the warm Sea of Cortés meeting the colder Pacific Ocean. Its beaches offer incredible landscapes as well as facilities for all kinds of water sports. Some of the best include Playa Azul, excellent for surfing, El Chileno, Palmilla, El Médano, Cabo Real and Playa del Amor. It is also internationally renowned for its sports fishing.
